Butterfly

So I bought myself a new camera (Panasonic FZ8) and tried my luck in the butterfly house:

So which species would that be?
scpg02

Oooo, new wall paper. Thanks! BTW, I'm very picky about what I use as wall paper.
Andre

Well another one then

Of course this is reduced in size. A detail in the original size:

Other wall paper pictures:

at wide angle (36mm SLR equivalent) and walking back for 8x zoom ~300mm equivalent

Which castle would that be?

Isn't that Ludwig II's castle? Never did get to go visit that one.

One of the best things I ever did in Germany was sing Ave Maria a capella under the cathedral domes with my choir.
Andre

Well, he did neither, Ludwig II. This is Burch Hohenzollern. Ludwig II of Bayern (from Sissy) was renowned for castle building other castles, notably, most famous Neuschwanstein:

But that's a 2.5 hrs drive for me. Hohenzollern only 20 minutes + 30 minutes hike one way.

Anyway todays hike is about the flowers and the bees:

and the haze in the distance,

let's zoom in max on that church in the middle right:

really hazy looking up sun:

Is it really autumn already?

Prettier castle.

Lovely pictures.

Wow, those are pretty amazing.

Maybe you should drop by PF some time to win a photo contest Wink
billiards

Seconded, these ace the majority of photos in PF, that castle looks like something out of a Disney film,i bet ZZ would love that Razz
Andre

Thanks, it's an old hobby. I own a very old SLR with all gadgets that you would like to have. But tech progresses and it became obsolete, although the battery still works! Living in such a beautiful area stimulates the wish to capture it on a picture. I'll have more and I'll post them on PF as well, anywhere except in the contest. Not interested in that.

Beautiful stuff Andre.

My 6 week tour of Deutchland was mind blowing! You have helped me to remember why I was so happy to be there for what I thought was pretty long.

My band played the courtyard of a castle from 800 AD. or around there.... maybe that was Luxemburg.... but this one was in Ingleheim.

I'll try to find a picture of it. Not my handi work with a camera, mind you.

Ah... this is where we played... same stage... out where the horses were cared for!!!

Its a thumbnail shot but you can see where we had two large German guys carry the piano to the stage from an Ingelheim bar for us. It went out of tune by half of a tone...... so our songs were out by the same. All 24,000 people seemed to like it as they "rock agin die richt".
billiards

24,000 people! You're having a laugh, right?

What fun. I had the pleasure of singing Ave Maria under the domes of a few cathedrals. I can still hear the tenors starting the song.

Cool!

The most exhillarating part of this festival was meeting the Jango Rhinhard type modern jazz band from Hungary. The Iron Curtain was still in effect and they had been granted permission to come to west Germany and play.

Hungarian is a unique language and communication was difficult between their drummer and I. But, he was a gem and I used his kit. The only word we had common between us was.....Beer!. And that was enough to make it a great friendship. My band mates left back to the Ruhr area and I stayed on to play with this Hungarian band as their percussionist. We closed the festival, on the last night, and it was the most energetic crowd I've ever seen. Even with all the white wine flowing!
Andre

Back on topic.

Okay I change my mind, this one is for the orange contest

or perhaps this is better:

Andre

You have to make a choice. These didn't make it.
