Think there should be another dedicated forum board?

Perhaps there is something about the site you think should change?

This is my first forum so any suggestions are more than welcome. This is the place to post your suggestions...

I would definitely suggest adding a trash can....but something with more of an "Earth sciencey" kind of name...like the "marianis trench" (sp?)...or the name of something where things go to die (no...not FOX television Smile

)...what's the name of those famous tar pits?

any other suggestions?

La Brea tar pits. Not sure about that spelling. Yeah it needs a catchy name.

Trash can is a good idea, will add it some time in the near future, I personally would prefer to call it The Mariana Trench, it seems a bit grander and more final.

. We could nick their idea, but I would kind of feel a bit dirty, we need something more original.

The current front runner has to be the tar pits now, personally I associate caldera with new life, where rocks are explosively born.

If it was to be used as an archive you could always go with 'the fossil record'.
Of course there may be a fair bit of confusion with people thinking it is actually to discuss fossils...

How about creating a History of Science section?

All real scientists for example use the "scientific method" but how many know it's history?
How many know, for instance, that Robert Grosseteste (1168 -1253) wrote "If experience does not match expectations, then expectations need to be rethought" and further stated " The investigator can never prove beyond doubt that any (hypothesis) is true, but a hypothesis can be framed so that it is possible to prove that it is not true". (Charles Murry -"Human Accomplishment")

Many more such things come to mind that have served as the foundation of all science, as we now know it, and how has been built.

I think that it is valuable for a scientist to understand the origins of his craft.
